The Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) is one of the government departments that is responsible for the skill development training and employment of Bangladeshi overseas. Alongside the marine, electrical, electronics, IT, automobile, refrigeration and air conditioning, mechanical, and civil work skill development training, BMET also provides different kinds of language courses. The courses are four years and two years long, and some are short courses.
Under the BMET, there are three types of institutions providing these training and courses.
- Bangladesh Institute of Marine Technology (BIMT)
- Institute of Marine Technology (IMT)
- Technical Training Center (TTC)

The following courses are being conducted under BMET:
4 Years Diploma Courses: Diploma in Marine Engineering and Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering.
2 Years Certificate Courses: Marine Diesel Engine Artificer, Ship Fabrication, Shipbuilding Welding and Shipbuilding & Mechanical Drafting.
2 Years SSC (Vocational) Courses: Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Machine Tools Operation, Automotive, General Electrical Works, Civil Drafting with Auto CAD, Civil Construction, General Mechanics, General Electronics, Mechanical Drafting with Auto CAD, Plumbing and Pipe Fitting, Dress Making, Welding and Fabrication, Wood Working/ Carpentry, Electrical Maintenance Works, Food Processing and Preservation, Architectural Drafting with Auto CAD.
Short Courses: Currently, BMET is offering 48 short courses on Marine, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Civil and other components.
Additional Courses: Korean Language, English Language, Japanese Language, EPS-TOPIK, Cantonese Language, Pre-departure Training, Arabic Language.
