What is Dental Care?

Dental care is medical care and hygiene relating to your teeth. Dental care is the practice of keeping the mouth and teeth clean to prevent dental problems. Similarly, dentistry involves taking care of one’s teeth professionally, including oral hygiene and dental surgery.

 Disease-related to the neglect of dental Care.

In Bangladesh, more than 80 percent of the population has at least one or more oral and dental diseases. Many suffer from periodontitis, gingivitis, dental caries, pulpitis, alveolar abscess, etc. Dental cysts and carcinoma of the oral cavity are also common oral health problems in Bangladesh.

Neglecting dental health can lead to various dental problems, including cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. Untreated dental caries is the single most common condition globally, affecting an estimated 2.5 billion people. Severe gum disease – a major cause of total tooth loss – is estimated to affect 1 billion people worldwide. About 380,000 new cases of oral cancer are diagnosed every year. The following diseases you may affected if don’t take dental care properly like-Tooth Decay, Gum disease, Bad Breath, Sensitive Teeth, Cracked or Broken Teeth, Receding Gums, Root Infection, Enamel Erosion, Dry Mouth, Teeth Grinding, Kidney diseases, Cancer, Obstructive sleep apnea etc.

Opportunities and Facilities in Bangladesh

There is a good facility across Bangladesh for dental care. All public and private medical colleges have facilities for dental treatment. There are 7000-11000 registered dental surgeons in BD. You will find 9 public and 26 private dental colleges across the country where all kinds of dental care treatments are available. Besides these, you will find lots of dental clinics across the country. At present, in Cox’sbazar there are also 28/30 dental clinics. In Rohingya Refugee camps, dental treatment is also served by some organizations like Basmah at Camps 14 and 26. Prantik provides dental services at camp 12. At Camp 3 dental care is provided by Dalit.

Cost of Dental Care:

Dental care treatment is a little more costly rather than other treatments. It also depends on the state of the teeth, surgeon, and clinic. There are two common treatments seen among people Root Canals and Dental Fillings.
