In Bangladesh, electricity providers are mainly the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO), Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC), and other private companies.  Since the bill payment can be done through online banking and applications for new connections can be done online, we emphasized meter reading and its processing to generate bills.

Preparation of the monthly electricity bill:
The meter reader collects the meter reading of the customer, prepares the bill, and sends it to the computer centre. The bill is examined by the executive, resident accountant, and system analyst, and a copy of the bill prepared by storing the electronic ledger is provided to the general public through the bill distribution medium or mobile message.

Electricity bill payment through apps:

Technology has made our lives easier. A lot of everyday tasks can now be done online. Besides private mobile banking applications/apps, government payment gateway cash is another popular means of paying electricity bills online. The electricity bill can be paid for free through such apps.

For example, links to respective apps are provided-
