Description

Roles (Functions):

  1. Agricultural Development: Promote the development and modernization of agriculture within the upazila by implementing government policies and programs aimed at improving crop yields and farming practices.
  2. Farmer Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to local farmers on modern agricultural techniques, pest control, irrigation, and soil management to enhance productivity.
  3. Input Distribution: Oversee the distribution of essential agricultural inputs such as quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and farming equipment to ensure that farmers have the necessary resources.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor agricultural activities in the upazila, including crop production, pest infestations, and soil health, and provide timely interventions to address any issues.
  5. Promotion of Sustainable Farming: Encourage sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices, including the use of organic fertilizers, crop rotation, and water conservation techniques to ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.
  6. Data Collection and Research: Collect data on agricultural production, farmer needs, and challenges to provide insights for policy-making and local agricultural development.
  7. Coordination with Other Agencies: Collaborate with local government, non-governmental organizations, and international bodies to implement agricultural programs, including disaster preparedness and climate-resilient farming.

  4. Reduce Crop Losses: Develop effective pest management and disease control strategies to minimize crop losses and protect agricultural production.
  5. Increase Farmer Income: Support programs that help farmers access better markets, improve post-harvest storage, and add value to agricultural products, thereby increasing their income.
  6. Enhance Climate Resilience: Promote climate-smart agricultural practices to help farmers adapt to the changing climate, ensuring long-term agricultural productivity.
